Moon

sailing a celestial sky,
conveyor of dreams,
you glide serenely,
untouched by the foibles
of humankind.

below,
a wolf howls
in the lonely midnight hours.
we stir in our troubled sleep,
knowing there are things
to be made right,
answering the inner call
of the wild,
seeking justice
for all creatures.

moon,
light our path.
shine enlightenment
on our species,
that all others
may live.

for Susan's prompt at Midweek Motif: Moon. I have written many moon poems over the years. This one is more troubled, given the times we live in.

  1. Sweet prayer--heavy duty--but addressed to the moon it brings a sense of relief and transcendence to the tasks ahead. Quite moving.

amen ... for without the creatures of this planet, we are nothing - as above, so below ...

wonderfully quiet prayer - soulful to the moon

  7. The sad thing is that we know there are things to put right but greed is slowly killing the Earth, we know it the wild creatures know and the trees whisper it too, but sadly there are those that just don't care assuming that money will fix any problem as the government of the day are responsible and they are the ones to fix it not the ones that caused the problem.

  12. i see the moon
    the moon sees me
    God bless the moon
    God bless me

It all boils down to obscene greed and the lack of traditional values.
The earth is doomed to environmental devastation unless there is a turn about.

  20. Sleepless moonlit nights often bring important thoughts to our mind, Sherry. The solution of many a problem has been found at night by th elight of the moon...
    Nice write!
