Dress Me in a Humble Heart

He has
no need of fashion.

He wears
his own
unpretentious
heart.

Ella's prompt at Real Toads is: fashion, or offshoots thereof. This humble little fellow sits on my desk......he is covered, at the moment, by ash from the incense I so love (Nag Champa, the best!) and his friend the Dalai Lama is in place of honor beside him. Pup peeks over his shoulder.

As for me, I have never cared about fashion. But one might say I have a certain "style" : comfort is the watchword, odd things found in thrift stores, anything not the norm. My "style", such as it is, came into its own on the West Coast where we all dressed wonderfully weird. It came along with me back into a town setting. As long as things are soft, comfortable, and have wolves or birds on them, I'll wear them!

  2. Style is very much part of personality. Your words remind us that the heart is the most fundamental accessory.

  4. That's it Sherry! One dresses to please oneself not to please others! If it's comfy and reasonable grab it!

  7. Chloe is all about 'how she looks' and tells me she will take ME shopping and show me what I need to wear...Hmmm... I wear exactly what I choose to wear and feel comfortable in, she has yet to learn that it isn't the clothes which make the person.
You and I are so alike in so many ways lol

  18. We ARE kindred spirits!!

I love Nag Champa andI too, am one for comfort!

I looked for Elephant Winter...it is at the binders so it's on order for me but I got this instead: "The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying," by Sogyal Rinpoche.

Have you read this? It was suggested after a poet friend mentioned that he thought of it after reading one of my poems.

So nice to read your humble heart, Sherry! :)
